Happy Boxing Day! I hope you have woken up suitably stuffed with turkey and you had a wonderful day yesterday.

And so we find ourselves on the second day of Christmas…
So which mystery author do I have for you today? It’s Emma Barnett.
Emma is an award-winning British broadcast journalist, author and Substacker, you can find her brilliant Substack here. She is the author of two books, Period, and forthcoming in March, Maternity Service which is available now to pre-order (and you know how much authors love pre-orders).
was formally the presenter of BBC Radio Four’s Woman’s Hour, and now co-presents Radio Four’s Today programme. Emma has welcomed queens and prime ministers, popstars and political prisoners to her microphone and I am thrilled she has somehow found the time in her schedule to pen an essay of writing advice for you, but then you know what they say ‘ask a busy person’ which is kind of the theme for her advice today. And so, let’s hear from Emma herself…
