I saw a lovely meme yesterday on Instagram that I wanted to share with you, it said: ‘It’s sad that in just a couple of days bread and chocolate will have calories again.’

So true, so sad. And so it seemed to me, as we arrive at the seventh day of Christmas and our days for indulgence are running low, that you needed to hear now more than ever some very indulgent advice from today’s author.

And so, who do I have for you on the seventh day of Christmas?

It’s Noreen Masud.

Noreen is a writer, lecturer in twentieth century literature and author of A Flat Place, her first memoir.

Noreen was shortlisted for the Sunday Times Young Writer of the Year Award 2024. And her book found itself on various prize shortlists including The Women’s Prize for Non-Fiction, The Jhalak Prize and The Ondaatje Prize. It was also selected as book of the year in 2023 by The Guardian, The Sunday Times and the New Yorker.
