Welcome to my Substack!

First of all, a little introduction to me:

I have been a print and broadcast journalist for more than 25 years, writing for newspapers including The Times, The Guardian, The Observer, The Telegraph and The Sunday Times Magazine. I was formally an executive editor at the Daily Mail.
I have ghostwritten seven memoirs including the Sunday Times bestseller, Somebody I Used to Know by Wendy Mitchell, and the Orwell Prize longlisted, CUT: One Woman's Fight Against FGM in Britain Today by Hibo Wardere. My debut novel, The Imposter, was published in April by Pan Macmillan.

Substack, for those who don’t know, is a hosting site for blogs/newsletters, if you subscribe it won’t cost you a thing but you will receive each post I write direct to your email inbox. Substack is a place where people can comment on my articles and musings, which tend to be writing lessons, as well as the type of columns I write for national newspapers that you usually find (frustratingly) behind paywalls. Being a subscriber to my substack gives you direct access.

Each week I tend to post one writing lesson whether that is on the subject of fiction or memoir, and I write inbetween about news from the book world, as well as women’s rights issues, and anything else newsworthy that I have strong views about or personal experience. Occasionally, I will also read you some of my own writing and short stories.

I am also running a mentoring scheme at the moment for working class aspiring writers. You can apply each month to receive free mentoring, so subscribe to be first to hear when applications open.

Have a look around at some of my previous posts, and please sign up — I would love to have you as a subscriber.

Thanks for having a read,

Anna
